CHINA: MTR Corp, MTR Academy and Hong Kong Polytechnic University have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore innovative railway technologies including smart asset and operations management and intelligent maintenance.
The three-year partnership aims to bring together the railway expertise of MTR Corp and MTRA with the research competences of PolyU.
Areas for collaboration include smart asset condition monitoring and assessment, the establishment of a joint laboratory for rail technology, and research to improve the operating environment, such as passenger flow management.
‘The Corporation is determined to allocate substantial resources in the application of innovative technology’, said MTR Corp Chairman Dr Rex Auyeung when the MoU was signed on June 14. ‘We hope that by collaborating with academia, we can promote the development of a smart railway and keep Hong Kong moving.’
MTR Corp CEO Dr Jacob Kam added that ‘we also expect the partnership can create opportunity for young talents and encourage them to utilise their creativity and innovation capability’s.
