TANZANIA: Tanzania Railways Corp has been granted approval to build a training institute on a 74 ha site in Tabora, according to local media reports.
TRC will use the facility to focus on developing engineers with railway skills as it continues to develop the country’s 1 435 mm gauge network.
‘The state-of-the-art institute will be training mechanical and electrical engineers for trains for the standard gauge railway which is under construction’, said Amina Lumuli, TRC’s acting Managing Director.
The institute is expected to be built within a budget of TSh44·8bn.
