CUBA: During a ceremony at the port of Habana on November 23, Unión de Ferrocarriles de Cuba Director General Eduardo Hernández took delivery of seven of the 75 Type TGM8KM diesel-hydraulic locomotives being supplied from Russia by Sinara Transport Machines. UFC is expecting to take delivery of 15 locomotives this year, with a batch of eight due arrive in January 2018 and a further 28 over the course of next year. Deliveries are due to be completed in 2027.
In preparation for their deployment hauling freight trains, 15 UFC drivers and 15 maintenance staff have already completed training at the Sinara plant in Lyudinovsk in Russia.
