CHINA: China Electronics Technology Group Corp has placed a €15m order with Siemens to supply signalling equipment for the extension of Suzhou metro Line 2.
Siemens will supply Trainguard MT automatic train control, Trackguard Sicas ECC electronic interlockings and Airlink radio transmission.
The same equipment was installed on the first phase of Line 2 under a contract awarded in 2009. Opened in December 2013, the north-south route links Suzhou North railway station and Baodaiqiao Nan via 20 intermediate stations. The 15 km eastern extension will run entirely underground from the current southern terminus and add 13 stations when it opens in 2016.
