PUERTO RICO: The Puerto Rico Highways & Transportation Authority has selected Cubic’s Umo platform for the modernisation of fare collection on the San Juan area’s Tren Urbano metro and bus services.
Cubic said its cloud-based Umo system will centralise and streamline fare collection, supporting migration to contactless payments using mobile apps with personal account management and journey planning, as well as smart cards and cash.
‘Our Cubic team includes personnel who participated in the original installation and implementation of the Tren Urbano and Metropolitan Bus Authority fare collection system for Puerto Rico over 20 years ago’, said Bonnie Crawford, Cubic’s Umo VP & General Manager. ‘The extensive legacy system expertise and highly knowledgeable Umo team members will ensure a smooth migration to a state-of-the-art fare collection system.’
