GERMANY: Deutsche Telekom has commissioned Hacon to develop a Mobility-as-a-Service platform by June 2022, including web, Android and iOS apps.
The Siemens Mobility subsidiary is to develop a MaaS platform that can facilitate door-to-door travel using public transport, on-demand services, new mobility providers, taxis, bicycles or walking. The platform will initially be made available to Deutsche Telekom employees, their families and friends.
The project will be launched in the Köln-Bonn area in partnership with Stadtwerke Bonn and Rhein-Sieg transport association VRS, but the system will be open to mobility providers across Germany.
‘MaaS can only become a reality when all mobility players team up’, explained Dr Olga Nevska, Managing Director of Telekom MobilitySolutions.
‘Deutsche Telekom, with its extensive know-how in digitalisation, offers tens of millions of people secure access to telecommunication services every day’, said Michael Frankenberg, CEO of Hacon and Head of Intermodal Solutions at Siemens Mobility. ‘Now, with an open MaaS platform, they are creating the basis for making sustainable, intermodal mobility easily accessible for everyone. With its b2c background, Deutsche Telekom is perfectly qualified to successfully implement this project for our mobile world.’
