SPAIN: Alstom has awarded GMV a contract to supply a unified fleet operations management system for the Trambaix and Trambesòs light rail networks in Barcelona, covering their 41 Citadis 302 trams.

GMV’s SAE-R platform uses GPS tracking in conjunction with odometers, balises, Tetra communications and a geographical information system to provide a range of control, management and service regulation functions, and also to drive passenger information systems onboard vehicles, at stops and online. Network controllers have constant information about the locations of trams and staff, and maps of any incidents.

A new development is an overspeed control system including visual and sound alarms.
