AUSTRALIA: Cubic Transportation Systems contactless smart ticketing has now been rolled out across the entire Gold Coast Light Rail network in Queensland, enabling passengers to pay using credit or debit cards, smart phones and smart watches.
The deployment is the first to use Cubic’s new platform validators, of which 156 have been installed at the 19 light rail stops.
The roll-out forms part of the Queensland Government’s A$371m smart ticketing system, which is due for full deployment by 2022.
‘An influx of visitors is expected over the holiday break and we’re sure residents and visitors will enjoy the convenience that comes with using this new technology’, said Tom Walker, CTS Managing Director of Asia-Pacific, on December 10.
