ITALY: Thales has been awarded a contract to modernise the Brescia metro’s train-to-ground data communications to provide near real-time transmission of onboard CCTV images to the control centre, and provide the ability to share this video content with other security operators.
The 14 km automated metro has a fleet of 18 trains. Thales’ contract covers the supply of an integrated CCTV encoder for digitising analogue video signals, a wi-fi link connecting the train to the ground through onboard equipment and trackside access-points, a dedicated data network to connect the wi-fi access-point to the control centre, and the control centre software platform for video surveillance and diagnostics.
Completion is scheduled for February 2022.
