CANADA: Software-agnostic ticket validator supplier Access-IS is supplying more than 1 000 of its VAL1000 devices for the roll-out of Masabi’s MyFare contactless mobile ticketing at Calgary Transit.
The validation units are powered by Masabi’s Justride Inspect software. Passengers scan dynamic and encrypted mobile passes when boarding a bus, with an audible beep and a coloured screen identifying the ticket as valid.
The VAL100 combines barcode and NFC/RFID reading functionality to provide a single point of presentation for tickets and travel passes, whether presented on a paper ticket, smartcard or mobile phone. NFC and contactless EMV can also be used, giving the operator the flexibility to turn on account-based ticketing if required.
