AIR DRYER: Emerson has introduced two compressed air dryers which are designed to extend maintenance intervals, minimise downtime and reduce energy costs in rail applications such as brakes and door controls.
The company said typical air dryers have an average servicing interval of less than two years, but its Aventics Roll-Up Dessicant Drying for main air supplies and RDDmin air dryers for auxiliary applications such as the driver’s seat offer intervals of eight years or 25 000 operating hours.
The proprietary adsorption medium uses crystals immobilised in a polymer support structure to provide shock and vibration resistance. This replaces the traditional granular adsorption medium which can suffer from channelling, air bypass and dust generation as a result of vibration.
