SAFETY: Artesyn Embedded Technologies has announced that TUV SÜD has provided Safety Integrity Level 4 certification for its ControlSafe embedded computing platform, which it says is one of the first to use commercial off-the-shelf components to create a fail-safe and fault-tolerant platform suitable for a wide range of train control and rail signalling applications.
This enables system integrators to use the platform without being deterred by the long timescales and potentially high costs associated with the SIL4 certification process. ‘We have been working closely with a number of leading rail integrators to develop this new product to ensure it effectively addresses their pain points and can significantly shorten their time to market’, said Marketing Vice-President Linsey Miller.
