SIGNALLING: Comtest Wireless has announced NetProbe Owl, a ‘cyber sniffing’ tool which it says is the first on the market to enable real-time security monitoring of GSM-R and ETCS networks.

NetProbe Owl tracks suspicious messages and sessions, sending alerts so that engineers can conduct further analysis.

‘Cybersecurity is an increasingly important issue and a natural extension for us’, said Marco Bussi, Co-founder and Business Development Executive at Comtest Wireless.

‘As our solutions already collect passive data on rail telecoms and signalling networks, it was a logical progression to look at extending the test and measurement solutions to include security monitoring. Thanks to NetProbe Owl, it will be much easier to see if, when and where the GSM-R and ETCS networks are under attack.’
