GROMMET EDGING: US company Device Technologies Inc has been awarded a State Trade Expansion Programme grant to help market its Spring-Fast SL-FST grommet edging to the European rolling stock market.
This will build on DTi’s long term programme to grow international sales through its Hamburg-based European subsidiary.
DTi said its grommet edging was ideal for protecting onboard cabling in confined spaces such as vehicle walls, floors and ceilings from being damaged by sharp edges
It can be installed in seconds without adhesives, avoiding the need for PVC edge trims which have issues with chlorine and fire safety compliance, or glued nylon grommets which are slower to apply and have higher degradation over time
‘Many sections of track run through tunnels, so fire safety requirements are particularly high in Europe’, said Meike Kurzak, Managing Partner of DTi GmbH. ‘SL-FST is optimized for low flammability and toxicity which PVC trim and nylon grommets cannot match.’
