FRANCE: SNCF is to deploy GIRO’s Hastus integrated scheduling and operations software to replace the existing tools which are used to manage staff and rolling stock on its network of high speed services.
The software will cover around 380 trains, 5 000 drivers and onboard staff and 9 000 employees at 187 stations. ‘This project represents a high-stakes transformation for TGV services, aiming to boost the performance of resource management in what we call the service-production area’, according to SNCF Programme Director Frédéric Bayon.
GIRO said it had dedicated ‘significant resources’ to developing software for passenger operators, with optimisation algorithms designed to take better account of rolling stock maintenance requirements and infrastructure works, and staff scheduling functions taking employees’ preferences into account.
