SPAIN: Teltronic has launched an outdoor TETRA base station which it says offers a significant reduction in costs and deployment time in railway environments.
The multi-carrier base station has been tested and certified according to the main standards for electronic equipment protection in the rail sector, and can be used for applications including voice transmission, positioning data, train alarms and signalling.
It uses software-defined radio techniques to provide up to four carriers in a single compact unit that does not require civil works for its installation and allows different configurations to adapt flexibly to the number of subscribers and system traffic load.
Tools for remote configuration and supervision help to lower operation and maintenance costs, and if a capacity improvement were needed, it could be remotely managed at a software level.
