CANADA: Ozz Electric has awarded ABB a contract to supply traction power equipment for Toronto Transit Commission's Leslie Barns tram depot.
Pomerleau Inc is general contractor for the C$238m depot which is under construction at Leslie Street in Ashbridges Bay. When completed the site will provide modern facilities for stabling and maintaining the 204 Bombardier Flexity Freedom low-floor trams which are expected to enter service from 2014.
ABB's contract covers the provision of four 2 MW/600 V DC transformer and rectifier units, DC switchgear and DC distribution equipment. ABB will also provide technical support and commissioning services.
The Leslie Barns facility is being built to Toronto Green Development standards, and will include a storm water management pond and a 'green roof'. Brown & Storey Architects is responsible for landscaping.
