RUSSIA: Uralvagonzavod has begun delivering its first Type 15-5183 liquefied anhydrous ammonia tank wagons to customers, following the completion of the certification process.
The tank diameter of 3 200 mm gives a capacity of 73·1 m3, an 18% increase on older designs.
The manufacturer estimates that there are around 5 500 ammonia tank wagons in service in Russia, with around 2 000 of these due to reach the end of their expected service life by 2020.
