RUSSIA: Central Suburban Passenger Co has awarded Transmashholding subsidiary Metrowagonmash a contract to supply 23 newly designed RA-3 diesel multiple-units, to be financed by Sberbank Leasing.
The agreement was signed on December 5. An initial 17 two-car DMUs are scheduled to be delivered between August and November 2019, with the remaining six three-car units in May 2020.
The RA-3 offers a maximum speed of 120 km/h, compared to 100 km/h for older designs, with improved crashworthiness. The driving motor cars have wheelchair lifts and accessible retention toilets, and the DMUs are offered in configurations of up to six cars.
