CZECH REPUBLIC: Infrastructure manager SŽ has purchased pre-production Vectron MS electric locomotive 193 901 from Siemens Mobility for KC72·95m to operate diagnostic test trains in the Czech Republic and abroad.
Built in 2010, the 6 400 kW multi-system locomotive with a top speed of 200 km/h has been fitted with ETCS Level 2 Baseline 3·4 signalling and is authorised for operation in the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary
The loco has already been repainted into SŽ corporate livery with blue vinyls and orange logos at the Siemens’ München-Allach works.
Operator ČD previously acquired matching prototype 193 902 from Siemens in 2020. This is now being deployed in regular passenger service, but is also used for the testing of loco-hauled rolling stock at the VUZ facility at Velim.
