EUROPE: On November 5 Bombardier Transportation announced the signing of a contract to supply leasing company Railpool with 18 more Traxx electric locomotives with a list value of €75m, including the first Traxx AC Last Mile locomotives for use in Scandinavia.
The order includes five Traxx MS multi-system locomotives for use in Germany, Austria, Belgium and Netherlands, eight more which will also be equipped for Switzerland and Italy, and five Traxx AC Last Mile locomotives for use in Sweden and Norway.
Bombardier said it has supplied more than 100 Traxx AC locomotives for use in Scandinavia. The Last Mile model to be delivered from the third quarter of 2016 will be able to operate on unelectrified tracks for up to 8 h, and will have the ability to heat the cab for a week in the event of a power failure.
