GERMANY: Go-Ahead has awarded Stadler a contract to supply 22 four-car Flirt 3 electric multiple-units for use on the E-Netz Allgäu services on the München – Memmingen – Lindau route which it is to operate on behalf of the Länder of Baden-Württemberg and Bayern from December 2021.
The 160 km/h EMUs will have 16 first and 200 second class seats and a total capacity of 395 passengers. There will be tables and plug sockets for charging mobile devices, wi-fi CCTV, luggage racks and multi-purpose areas provide space for transporting up to 21 bicycles, bulky luggage and pushchairs. One of the two toilets will be TSI PRM compliant. The livery will be based on the blue and white colours of the Land of Bayern design.
The contract worth a ‘low three-figure million’ euros was signed during InnoTrans 2018, and means Go-Ahead has now ordered 88 Flirts in four batches.
‘We are very pleased that we are able to continue the excellent, partner-based co-operation with Go-Ahead’, said Ulf Braker, Managing Director of Stadler Pankow. ‘The vehicles are the first electric vehicles that will run to Lindau am Bodensee on this route which will be electrified by the time operations begin. The extremely comfortable vehicles with large luggage racks are our key to meeting the increase in travel in this region.’
