ITALY: Arsenale Express has awarded Knorr-Bremse a contract to supply braking, climate control, door and sanitary systems for two rakes of 11 coaches which are being modernised for use on La Dolce Vita luxury ‘slow travel’ services
La Dolce Vita is being developed by luxury travel company Arsenale in partnership with Accor Group’s Orient Express brand and Italian incumbent FS Group, with operations expected to start from mid-2024.
‘Tradition and modernity are coming together in a unique way’, said Harald Schneider, head of Knorr-Bremse Italy, when the low double-digit million-euro rolling stock subsystem order was announced on March 14.
The climate control will use intelligent technology to optimally distribute cooling to passenger areas, with manual or automatic control for each coach and CO2 as a sustainable refrigerant.
The sanitary systems are designed to be compact and low maintenance, with retention tanks and early fault detection.
The doors will be designed to ’highlight the unique experience’ of travelling on the trains.
