CROATIA: Končar KEV has delivered the first two Class 6112 electric multiple-units ordered by national passenger operator HŽPP last year.
The order was placed under a January 2014 agreement between Končar KEV and HŽPP which covers up to 44 electric and diesel multiple-units.
An initial 10 regional EMUs, 10 suburban EMUs and one DMU were delivered in 2015-16, financed through the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction & Development. A further four DMUs were delivered in 2019-20, financed with an International Bank for Reconstruction & Development loan.
The order confirmed in 2020 covers six EMUs for regional services and six EMUs for suburban traffic, with 11 of the units financed through a 571m kuna loan from Eurofima and one of the suburban units by a 48m kuna IBRD loan.
In November 2020 HŽPP awarded Končar KEV a separate contract to supply 11 EMUs for Zagreb suburban services and 10 for regional routes. These will be a version of the Class 6112, updated to meet current TSI standards. The EU’s Operational Programme Competitiveness & Cohesion 2014–20 is covering 85% of the 845m kuna cost, with the remainder coming from the state budget.
