KAZAKHSTAN: National railway KTZ has ordered a 10-car Type ED9E electric multiple-unit from Transmashholding's Demikhovsky Engineering Plant subsidiary. Delivery is planned for July.
Announcing the order on April 10, Transmashholding, said the ED9E offers lower power consumption than previous generations of AC unit. The new EMU will provide three classes of accommodation, with first class having 2+2 seating with tables, second class 2+2 with folding tables and third class having 3+3 seating. There will also be a bar in one of the cars.
The EMU will feature external sliding-plug doors, air-conditioning and CCTV recording of the train interior and view ahead. The driving cars will have ramps for easy access from high platforms, and there will be dedicated wheelchair areas.
