FRANCE: SNCF has exercised an option for a further eight Bombardier Transportation Regio 2N double-deck electric multiple-units to be delivered in 2017-19.
The €56·5m contract announced on October 1 is being financed by the Midi-Pyrénées region, which ordered an initial 10 Regio 2N EMUs in December 2013.
In 2010 SNCF and Bombardier signed a framework agreement for up to 860 units. So far, 10 regions have placed orders for a total of 209 units and Bombardier's Crespin plant has delivered 45 to six regions with the first entering service in October 2014.
