POLAND: Łódź voivodship has awarded Pesa Bydgoszcz a contract to supply four three-car Regio160 electric multiple-units to enable local passenger operator Łódzka Kolej Aglomeracyjna to increase capacity on its services.
The contract awarded on February 10 includes options for a further 20 EMUs.
Each of the 3 kV DC EMUs will have 160 seats and a capacity of 350 passengers, with wi-fi, air-conditioning and a family area.
ŁKA currently has 34 Stadler and Newag EMUs and five Newag electro-diesel units, and President Janusz Malinowski said ridership grew rapidly in 2022 creating a need to expand the fleet.
