POLAND: Łódzka Kolej Aglomeracyjna has awarded Newag a contract for the supply and maintaince of three electro-diesel multiple units for stage four of the Łódź Agglomeration Railway programme, with an option for a further two.
The order for the intital three trainsets is valued at 75·6m złoty, with the maintenance element worth 6·027 złoty/km. The Regional Operational Programme for Łódź voivodship for the years 2014-20 is to provide 85% co-financing.
ŁKA plans to use the trainsets on lines 25 Łódź/Zgierz – Tomaszów Mazowiecki – Opoczno and 53 Łódź/Zgierz – Tomaszów Mazowiecki – Spała.
Meanwhile, testing has begun with the first of three 31WEha Newag Impuls 2 electro-diesel multiple-units ordered in July 2021. These feature air-conditioning. CCTV, passenger information systems, ticket machines, wi-fi, USB chargers and defibrillators and are fitted with ETCS.
They have a capacity of 300 people, including around 140 seated, and a maxium speed of 160 km/h using electric power and 120 km/h on diesel.
