CZECH REPUBLIC: National operator ČD has awarded a contract for its flagship fleet of seven Class 680 Pendolino trainsets to be equipped with ETCS, which will allow them to operate at up to 200 km/h on sections of the network.
The contract worth KC413·9m was awarded to the operator’s ČD Telematika subsidiary and Alstom following a tendering proecess lasting more than a year.
ČD has also awarded a consortium of ČD Telematika, Alstom, Škoda Transportation and AŽD Praha a KC1·51bn contract to install ETCS on 66 Class 471 CityElefant 3 kV DC double-deck EMUs used on suburban services in Praha and Ostrava.
