EUROPE: Czech open access operator RegioJet has awarded Alstom a contract to supply 13 Traxx MS3 electric locomotives equipped with ETCS and national signalling systems for use in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, Poland and Germany.
Deliveries are expected to begin in 2024.
‘We currently operate 22 multi-system locomotives, 18 of which are the latest generation of Traxx MS3’, said RegioJet owner Radim Jančura when the order was announced on February 8.
‘These modern locomotives are a reliable and proven part of our fleet. In addition to increased efficiency and lower operating costs, the new locomotives will enable us to further expand our quality and modern rail transport services under the RegioJet brand in the Czech Republic, as well as in other European countries. At the same time, these purchases clearly confirm our commitment to invest in new train technology that brings greater comfort to passengers.’
