RUSSIA: Transmashholding’s Demikhovsky plant has been awarded a contract to supply Russian Railways with 42 suburban electric multiple-units totalling 220 cars by the end of 2023.
The order includes four to eight-car EP2D 3kV DC EMUs, and four to 10-car EP3D 25 kV 50 Hz units.
The vehicles will have entirely domestic content.
They will be of a high-floor design, but with retractable steps for use on routes with low platforms. The end cars will have ramps, wheelchair lifts and attachment points, and the onboard information signs will be duplicated in Braille.
