ISRAEL: Best and final offers for a contract to supply 330 double-deck electric multiple-unit cars to Israel Railways were submitted by six bidders by the September 28 deadline.
The bidders are Alstom, Bombardier Transportation, Hitachi Rail Italy, Siemens, Škoda Transportation and Stadler.
The planned order will cover a total of 60 EMUs of various configurations. The first are expected to be delivered towards the end of 2019, for use on routes now being electrified as well as the A1 fast link to Jerusalem which is scheduled to open in April 2018.
The EMUs would be maintained at a depot to be built in Ashkelon.
