SLOVAKIA: National freight operator ZSSK Cargo has awarded CZ Loko a contract to rebuild 20 Class 742 Bo-Bo diesel-electric locos to the EffiShunter 1000M design, with an option for 20 more.
This is CZ Loko’s largest order from Slovakia.
The locos will be similar to Class 741.71, 96 of which have been delivered or are on order from ČD Cargo and other operators, but only four will be fitted with ETCS.
CZ Loko will collaborate with Zagreb-based TŽV Gredelj, which is part of Slovak logistics group Budamar and will be responsible for modernisation of the underframes and the final assembly of 18 locos using kits supplied by CZ Loko.
The locos will be powered by a 1 000 kW-rated CAT 3508C engine and have a maximum speed of 100 km/h. The first two locos are to be completed by the end of the year with six more to follow in 2023.
