UK: Leasing company Eversholt Rail has awarded Southeastern franchisee LSER a contract undertake modifications to its fleet of 112 Bombardier Transportation Class 375 Electrostar electric multiple-units to upgrade onboard systems and meet franchise commitments.
The programme is worth up to £10m. It will include replacing the existing lighting with LEDs, and installing energy meters and at-seat USB charging points.
One vehicle will be fitted with a bio-reactor toilet for testing over two years.
Design work is underway, with the first train to be modified in December 2021 and the programme scheduled for completion in Q4 2024.
