INNOTRANS: United Wagon Co is exhibiting a Type Sggrs twin-section articulated flat wagon for carrying heavy containers.
The wagon was designed by UWC’s All-Union Research & Development Centre for Transportation Technology and manufactured by its Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant.
UWC is targeting the EU market, having recently been certified as a potential supplier to Deutsche Bahn, and the 1 435 mm gauge vehicle on show at InnoTrans 2018 is designed to European technical and quality standards.
It has 22·5 tonne axleload bogies and a capacity of up to 107·5 tonnes, allowing it to carry various ISO containers, tank containers and swap bodies of up to 36 tonnes. The maximum speed is 120 km/h.
The wagon is equipped with hinged container twist locks compliant with European standards to accommodate two 40 ft or four 20 ft containers.
