BELGIUM: Vlaanderen transport operator De Lijn has placed a firm order for CAF to supply a further 18 Urbos 100 trams for use in Antwerpen.
The order announced by the Spanish manufacturer on June 29 is the fifth to be placed under an October 2017 framework agreement covering the supply of up to 146 metre-gauge vehicles worth €294m. It is the first order for bidirectional cars.
The previous orders covered 24, 24, 23 and 17 undirectional vehicles. The first 48 of these are being delivered to the Knokke – Oostende – De Panne coastal tramway, whilst the third, fourth and fifth batches are destined for Antwerpen.
