INDIA: Mid-life refurbishment has been completed on the the first of the 70 trainsets supplied for Delhi Metro Phase I in 2002-07.
Work on an initial 10 trainsets is being undertaken by Escorts Ltd Railway Equipment Division and Naledi Rail Engineering with completion planned for September 2022; tendering is underway for the refurbishment of the remaining 60 trainsets
The floors have been replaced by fibre composite boards, interiors repainted, electrical panels upgraded with sealed relays, half of the static route maps converted to LCD dynamic designs, mobile and laptop charging sockets provided, and fire detection systems installed.
CCTV is being fitted, including cameras to provide the drivers with views of the platforms and for overhead electrification monitoring.
