INDIA: The first train for the Ahmedabad metro has arrived from Hyundai Rotem’s Changwon plant in South Korea via Mundra Port.
Rotem is supplying 32 three-car trainsets under a contract signed in 2017. The trains have a maximum speed of 80 km/h and capacity for 782 passengers. They will be used on the two lines that make up Phase 1 of the metro network.
Larsen & Toubro is supplying ballastless track, while Siemens is electrifying the two lines and providing SCADA equipment. Nippon Signal is supplying signalling and an automatic fare collection system.
