MEXICO: Chinese manufacturer CRRC Zhuzhou has unveiled the first of 26 two-car articulated light metro trainsets ordered by Monterey operator Metrorrey.
The trainsets are intended for use on the existing lines 1 and 2 as well as Line 3 which is under construction for opening in February.
The trains have a maximum speed of 80 km/h and are suitable for use in curves down a radius of 25 m. Features include low-noise wheelsets, LED lighting and air-conditioning which adjusts to match the number of passengers.
Up to four vehicles will be able to operate in multiple, enabling train lengths to be varied to suit demand.
The order placed in December 2019 includes an option for a further five trainsets.
