UZBEKISTAN: Toshkent has ordered a further 10 Transmashholding metro trainsets, financed with a 12-year €30·4m loan agreement which was signed with VEB.RF Corp at the Innoprom trade fair on April 5.
Spare parts and accessories will be financed under a separate loan agreement with Roseximbank.
The four-car trains from the manufacturer’s Moskva family will have wide gangways, 1 400 mm wide double-leaf doors, wheelchair spaces, touchscreen route planning monitors, CCTV, air-conditioning and disinfection systems. They will have an expected operating life of 30 years.
The first five trainsets are scheduled to be delivered this summer, boosting capacity on the elevated Halqa Line and enabling a return to previous service frequencies on the older lines where intervals between trains were lengthened as a result of the opening of the extension of the Chilonzor Line south to Quipchoq (Bekat-5) in the Sergeli district last December.
