POLAND: Five offers have been submitted by international consortia competing to build the 6 km central section of Warszawa Metro Line 2. The committee evaluating the tenders is expected to make a decision by the end of March. This must then be ratified by the City of Warszawa.

The lowest price of 4·1bn złoty was submitted by the consortium of Alstaldi, Gulermak and Przedsiebiorstwo Budowy Drog I Mostov. However, this still exceeds the official budget of 3·7bn złoty. The first tender for Line 2 was cancelled last year when bids were significantly higher than expected.
