USA: Port Authority of New York & New Jersey has renewed Bombardier Transportation’s contract to operate and maintain the AirTrain JFK peoplemover at John F Kennedy International Airport.
The contract announced on December 30 is worth $309m over five years.
Bombardier was part of the consortium responsible for designing and supplying the peoplemover, including the fleet of 32 vehicles, and has operated and maintained it since the opening in December 2003. It now carries more than 20 million passengers/year.
‘We greatly appreciate the confidence the Port Authority has placed in us and look forward to continuing our 16-year partnership in providing safe, reliable, customer-friendly, 24/7, 365-day service’, said Elliot G Sander, President of Bombardier Transportation’s Americas Region.
