GERMANY: The first low-floor Tramino tram for Braunschweig arrived in the early hours of July 18 from the Solaris Bus & Coach factory in Poznań. The second and third vehicles are to arrive in the following two weeks, with the remaining 15 trams due by the end of the year.
Braunschweiger Verkehrs AG signed the €33·1m contract with Solaris on July 5 2012, and production started in November 2013. The 1 100 mm gauge four-section trams will replace 30-year old cars which do not meet modern accessibility requirements.
The unidirectional vehicles are 36 m long with capacity for 201 passengers, including 77 seated.
