CHINA: The first phase of Fuzhou metro Line 6 opened on August 28, running 31·3 km from Pandun to Wanshou with 16 stations. This includes the 6·8 km Doqingzhou Bridge over the River Min, which has metro tracks on the lower deck and a six-lane road on the upper level; this opened for road traffic on January 30.
Lines 4, 5 and 6 were approved by the National Development & Reform Commission on December 31 2015 as part of the Fuzhou Urban Rail Transit Phase II Construction Plan for 2015-21.
Construction of Line 6 started in November 2016, and trial running began on March 15 this year.
The line runs underground for 23·9 km, with the rest of the route being elevated including one high-level station. It is operated using four-car CRRC Tangshan Type B trains delivered from October 2020. The maximum speed is 100 km/h, and an end-to-end journey takes 42 min. There is provision for lengthening to six-car trains.
In July work began on a 5·3 km second phase of the line which would run from Wanshou to Shibakongzha and add five stations.
