UK: Strathclyde Partnership for Transport has awarded Freyssinet a five-year contract to undertake tunnel lining improvements as part of the second phase of the modernisation of the Glasgow Subway.
The specialist works will include infilling annulus voids, leak sealing and water management to protect the integrity of the tunnels, which date back to 1896.
Freyssinet was previously engaged by SPT to rehabilitate the tunnel linings during the initial stage of the Subway modernisation programme in 2015-18, when it undertook annulus grouting, cleaning of tunnel linings, the trackbed and drainage channels, works to existing concrete and brickwork linings and resin injection leak sealing over a total of 8 019 linear metres.
