TURKEY: Hyundai Rotem has been selected to supply 17 four-car metro trainsets to operate Istanbul Line M2 under a €77·5m contract. The Korean company’s bid was selected by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality ahead of a lowed priced offer from CNR Changchun.
The cars are to be built in Adana by the Eurotem joint venture of Hyundai Rotem and local partner Tüvasaş. Deliveries are due to begin in late 2017. The trainsets will be equipped for driverless operation, although this is not currently in place on the 19·5 km line.
