EGYPT: National Authority for Tunnels has awarded Thales, Orascom Construction and Colas Rail a turnkey contract to design and deploy the telecoms, control and ticketing systems for Cairo Metro Line 4 Phase 1 and provide two years of maintenance.
The east-west Line 4 is being developed in two phases. The first covers 19 km connecting central Cairo to Giza, with 16 stations, a depot and the operations control centre. Phase 2 would add 23·5 km and a further 19 stations.
