CHINA: Hong Kong's MTR Corp has awarded Alstom contracts with a total value of €71m covering the supply of signalling, track and electrification systems for two metro projects. The track and electrification contracts announced on April 17 are the first which Alstom has won in Hong Kong.
One contract covers the supply of Urbalis CBTC for fully automatic operation on the 7·1 km five-station South Island Line (East) extension which will connect Admiralty with South Horizons from 2015. Alstom will supply track and electrification systems under a separate contract.
A third contract covers track and electrification for the 2·6 km Kwun Tong Line extension with two stations which is also scheduled to open in 2015. Alstom will supply automatic train control, interlockings and local automatic train supervision technology as an option on a previous contract covering the West Island Line.
