BRAZIL: Companhia do Metropolitano de São Paulo restarted the tender for the 25-year PPP concession to build and operate metro Line 6 during April. The new bid submission date is July 30, and the value is unchanged at R$7·8bn.

The original tender from January had to be cancelled because of changes to the property acquisition process. Originally, the winning bidder would have been responsible for expropriations along the route, valued at R$673m to R$740m. The state government has amended this so that it will cover any amount above R$740m.

In a separate move, CPTM will launch a R$3bn tender by July for a 25-year PPP concession to build, operate, and maintain a 14·4 km, 12-station monorail to be designated as Line 18 of the metro. This will run from Tamanduateí to the Paço municipality of São Bernado Campo.

On May 9 state governor Geraldo Alckmin cancelled the R$900m tender for Line 13 to Guarulhos Airport. According to the state government, the project does not adequately serve the public interest. It has also been reported that investors have lost interest. Line 13 might still be extended to the airport, but it will no longer be an express line.
