CHINA: The Shanghai Keolis joint venture of Shanghai Shentong Metro Group (51%) and Keolis (49%) has been awarded a 20-year contract to operate and maintain the planned airport peoplemover at Shanghai Pudong International Airport.

Due to open in June 2019, the 7·8 km route would link the two existing terminals with two terminals being built to expand the airport’s capacity from 60 million to 80 million passengers per year.

CRRC is supplying a fleet of trainsets 94 m long. The line will be equipped with CBTC signalling and will run with headways of 4 to 5 min. Daily ridership is expected to be 250 000 passengers.
